strawberry jam is quickly becoming one of my favorite albums of all time. pretty solid, has kept me from even starting to listen to any of the other animal collective stuff because its so good. also on the radar is cymbals eat guitars- why there are mountains; solid album after my first listen

saturday was ann arbor's hash bash. it was alright. a lot of hippies roaming the streets smoking pot. i stood on top of the michigan union tower, which has been closed off for over a decade. and even prior to that, the only groups allowed up there were the secret societies like michigauma (like yale's skulls and bones or bama's machine). it was a pretty interesting trip. i carved my name on the stone slabs up there; my name and association with this university will live on forever up there (or atleast till it erodes away) with only a handful of other names (im guessing students, building managers, etc). in other words, i was anything but low all day... get it? huh? no? ok, ill stop

oh, and it was sunny and beautiful out. like nice enough where i had my windows open. this was saturday. sunday night? 6-10 inches of snow. its april 6th. this is why i hate this state. one week its beautiful, the next shittier than mid january. its times like this where everything makes sense: the reason why michigan sucks so much (in every category except possibly hockey and higher education, thanks to u of m being on top of their game) is because everyone is so goddamn miserable for 6 months out of the year. as soon as you think your done, when april rolls around, you get hit with another 10 inches of snow and the nice weather of recent weeks seems like nothing more than a distant memory. there are plenty more reasons to hate this state other than the weather (the economy, the lack of anything interesting in the whole state, the shitty sports teams which you love but always end up breaking your tiny heart by going 0-16 and not firing matt millen when they should have years ago, etc.).

but its all almost over. only three more weeks and im done. hopefully out of this state before next winter. i always enjoy the summers here, and this year is no exception. summer of 09 looks to be the most promising of all
